Next time has come

The last I wrote, I was just starting on the Masters in Legal Practice and we had only heard the vague rumblings of a new virus called COVID… I managed my first exam in business law just before the first lockdown in March 2020 and the rest of the course moved to online teaching and assessments.

I am so happy to report that I have officially finished the course, graduating with a distinction – so I am now a Master of Laws. I’ve also got one of those elusive training contract offers and will be starting on the final route to qualifying as a solicitor in 2023.

This means I am ready for music again! I’ve had a couple of false starts in the gigging world, both shows I had booked to return to live music were cancelled due to circumstances outside of my control. It’s not been easy to pick up a guitar again but the small showcase I played last night reminded me of who I am. I felt completely myself (even though I was nervous and didn’t play to my usual standard) and I’ll be ready for a full show whenever it comes. In the meantime, I will be practicing and thinking about writing some new material.

I have also very much enjoyed watching live music again, catching Karine Polwart at Bury Met recently. Although it did feel a bit weird being out and about, socialising, the connection to music and people is so needed.

Love to you all.
